About the role

The Producer maintains and expands relationships with key customers, leading high-profile, complex corporate events with mid-to-large revenue impact. This role involves overall planning, budgeting, and execution while achieving strategic objectives, working collaboratively with all internal departments. The Producer reports directly to the Associate Director of Production.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee corporate event production, from pre-show planning and development through on-site execution at various facilities nationwide.
  • Proactively lead a joint company-strategic account planning process to develop mutual performance objectives, financial targets, and critical milestones.
  • Serve as a strategic liaison with show organizers, agency partners, facility staff, production personnel, internal clients, and vendors to build working partnerships.
  • Work cross-functionally and lead collaboratively with internal teams (business development, operations, design/creative, etc.) to manage events and address customer needs.
  • Develop and manage project timelines, agendas, and workflows with clients.
  • Demonstrate financial acumen, including comprehensive budget management, time and materials billing, and estimating/quoting prices for complex products and services.
  • Meet or exceed financial plan goals on assigned events, coordinating closely with the Finance team to ensure accurate revenue and cost tracking.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders nationwide and produce events in any region based on core job knowledge.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of GES products and services to influence customer decision-making.
  • Manage varying Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and identify risks and opportunities to develop actionable plans.
  • Proactively assess, clarify, and validate customer needs on an ongoing basis.
  • Create and/or adapt processes for complex clients.
  • Achieve strategic customer objectives and maintain high customer satisfaction ratings, measured through Client Survey results.
  • Represent GES at industry association functions (e.g., IAEE, PCMA, EDPA) as needed.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all GES internal SOPs, processes, and platforms.
  • Drive process improvement projects, either assigned or initiated.
  • May require management of assigned support staff on an event.
  • Perform other duties as assigned under the direction of the Associate Director or Director of Production.

Requirements

  • College degree preferred.
  • 3-7 years of experience in event production, corporate account management, related agency, and/or official services contractor roles.
  • Experience working with various graphic substrates and exhibit systems (e.g., Octanorm, beMatrix, Agam) preferred.
  • Strong budgetary management and negotiation skills.
  • Extremely detail-oriented with the ability to use time productively and efficiently.
  • Excellent organizational skills and resourcefulness, with innovative problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Flexible, energetic, and able to multi-task while navigating rapid turnaround times.
  • Top-notch communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Proficient in multisystem management and fostering customer relationships for client retention.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings is a plus.
  • Ability to adapt to multiple settings and shifting responsibilities.

Work Environment

  • Potential travel of 50% or more.
  • Remote position, but must be located within an hour of a GES facility.
  • Requires adaptability to multiple settings and shifting responsibilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and during nights, weekends, and holidays as required, including on-site at events.
  • May require long hours during peak months of the year.
  • Typically performs work on the event floor, in noisy, crowded, and potentially uncomfortable conditions (e.g., temperature variations, dust).
  • Requires working both independently and as part of a team, including with union and non-union employees.
