About the role

The Corporate Controller is a newly created, hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing the transactional accounting operations of a growing, multi-entity organization. This individual will own the accounting infrastructure supporting accounts payable, accounts receivable and collections, payroll accounting, treasury and cash operations, inventory and cost accounting, general ledger integrity, and internal controls. As the organization continues to scale organically and through acquisition, the Controller will be responsible for building efficient, well-controlled, and increasingly automated accounting processes while leading the financial integration of acquired businesses. This role will partner closely with Finance leadership to ensure accurate, timely, and audit-ready financial information while developing the people, systems, and processes required to support continued growth.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing and collections, payroll accounting, treasury and cash management, fixed assets, inventory, cost accounting, and intercompany activity.
  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure sub-ledgers, reconciliations, and transactional accounting activities are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Strengthen working capital management through disciplined oversight of receivables, collections, payables, cash application, and treasury activities.
  • Develop and maintain a scalable internal control environment across accounting processes, ensuring appropriate documentation, compliance, and audit readiness.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors and coordinate support related to transactional accounting and balance sheet activities.
  • Oversee applicable transactional tax matters, including sales and use, property, and payroll taxes, while partnering with internal and external resources on broader tax matters.
  • Lead the accounting integration of acquisitions, including onboarding financial processes, chart-of-account mapping, system conversions, intercompany activity, and standardization of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Support financial due diligence and establish repeatable processes for Day 1 readiness and post-acquisition integration.
  • Drive continuous improvement and automation across high-volume accounting processes to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Partner with IT and other functional teams on ERP enhancements, systems implementations, data integrity, and reporting improvements.
  • Lead, develop, and scale the accounting team while establishing clear accountability, cross-training, documented procedures, and succession plans.
  • Partner closely with Finance leadership to ensure accounting activity supports timely financial reporting, forecasting, cash management, and business decision-making.
  • Support senior leadership on working capital, controls, acquisition integration, and other accounting and finance initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, MBA, or Master's degree preferred.
  • 8–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Controller-level or equivalent leadership responsibility.
  • Broad hands-on experience overseeing transactional accounting functions, including AP, AR, payroll, general ledger, cash management, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Demonstrated experience building and strengthening internal controls, accounting policies, and audit-ready processes within a growing organization.
  • Experience leading external audits and partnering with auditors, tax advisors, and other third-party professionals.
  • Strong ERP and systems background with demonstrated success improving processes, implementing automation, and scaling accounting infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting acquisitions and integrating acquired businesses, including accounting processes, systems, and controls, strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing and developing accounting teams across multiple functions, entities, or locations.
  • Manufacturing, industrial, or other inventory-intensive experience with exposure to inventory and cost accounting preferred.
  • Experience operating in a multi-entity or international environment is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of transactional tax compliance; exposure to nexus or international tax matters is beneficial.
  • Strong communication and business partnership skills with the ability to work effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Hands-on leadership style with the ability to operate in the details while simultaneously building scalable processes and teams.
