About the role
The Product Engineer is responsible for developing new product components through Oakley Development Phases 2, 1, and 0. They provide technical feasibility for requests from the Creative and Product teams during SKU configuration. They create components with new colors, patterns, graphics, and other decoration treatments for internally and externally produced components. They own any issues and attack them with a formal RCCM (Root Cause Counter Measure) approach. Their finish line is a new fully vetted finished product ready for manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Create development flows (cross functional processes segmented by development type)
- Create process metrics to ensure product project remains on schedule: development step lead time and overall punctuality to release timing
- Create the project documentation to include, but not limited to, kickoff forms, drawings, test reports, work instructions APQP validation packet
- Responsible for identifying and leading the procurement of samples from internal and external suppliers to confirm aesthetic and functional requirements
- Owns RCCM in development, production, performance testing, and assigned action items at cross functional meetings
- Led in Continuous Improvement projects and lean system application as assigned
- Maintain a safe, organized and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
- Work effectively and collaboratively with others
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or related Engineering Degree
- 4+ years of experience in engineering, product development or project management
- Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing processes (injection molding, assembly, automation) and general surface treatment techniques (painting, plating, pad-printing, etc.)
- Experience with projects using Lean principles (VSM, SIPOC, Kaizen, Visual Management, RCCM, etc.)
- Demonstrated knowledge of general performance testing (environmental, mechanical, optical, etc.)
- Good communication skills and ability to interface with related departments
- Knowledge of systems processes that ensure decisions are data driven
Qualifications

Skills
- Master’s degree preferred
- Experience with injection molding manufacturing and product development
- Previous consumer hard goods development/manufacturing experience
- Experience using SAP, 3D Drafting Software, PLM
- Leverage Lean Manufacturing certification – Preferred Green Belt or higher
- Bilingual – English / Spanish / Italian

Pay
Pay Range: $95,321.58 - $131,049.40
