About the role
LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is seeking an enthusiastic, team-oriented, and goal-driven individual to join the team as a Payroll Coordinator in Gainesville, FL. This position is responsible for handling all payroll-related functions of the organization and completing any other tasks necessary for monitoring and overseeing the organization’s payroll process.
LifeSouth is a non-profit community blood bank serving more than 150 hospitals in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee. Our mission is to provide a safe blood supply that meets or exceeds the needs in each community we serve, and to provide a variety of services in support of ongoing and emerging blood and transfusion-related activities.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain all payroll records
- Gather all required payroll data, including time and attendance information
- Enter pay data batches and payroll corrections (historical edits) in payroll system
- Generate hourly and salary pay data batches
- Serve as the first point of contact with employees to resolve or discuss payroll concerns or issues
- Work in conjunction with and support the human resources department
- Collaborate with payroll system customer service to resolve issues, set up new processes, and document procedures
- Generate and disburse payroll data/timekeeping reports to management
- Review payroll data for accuracy
- Process third-party sick pay data
- Review employee maintenance/changes done in the payroll system by HR personnel
- Generate and disburse monthly credit card reports from Concur to management
- Review AP weekly checks for verification of payment amount, vendor, tax, etc.
- Assist with entering vendor bills into the accounting system and other tasks to help accounts payable, as needed
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- One year of related payroll or accounting experience
- Valid driver’s license; must meet and maintain LifeSouth driver’s eligibility requirements
- Intermediate computer skills and experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
- Detail-oriented, accurate, and organized
- Flexibility with work assignments and ability to multi-task
- Ability to take initiative and assist in developing departmental policies, procedures, and projects
- Must maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive information
- Ability to maintain calm under pressure
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification preferred.

Pay
Starting salary range is $18.25 - $20.08 an hour.
Criminal background check and drug screen required upon conditional offer of hire. This is a full-time position.
