About the role

Under general supervision, the Job Developer is responsible for creating and maintaining partnerships with employers to develop job and internship opportunities for individuals. This role involves assessing clients' employment needs, skills, and interests, and matching them with suitable job openings or internships. The Job Developer will work closely with Employment Specialists and their clients to build career opportunities that best fit their needs and wants.

Responsibilities

  • Employer Outreach
    • Establish and maintain relationships with employers in various industries.
    • Identify and develop job opportunities that match the skills and interests of individuals seeking employment support.
    • Build partnerships with community organizations, educational institutions, and training providers.
    • Advocate for individuals’ employment needs and work to reduce barriers to employment.
    • Attend job fairs, networking events, and community meetings to promote job placement services.
    • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of labor market trends and employment practices.
    • Prepare and distribute job orders to staff regarding available job opportunities.
    • Collaborate with team members to develop and improve job placement opportunities.
    • Market individuals to employers.
    • Learn the eVero database system for recordkeeping and billing purposes.
    • Write daily notes in a timely manner.
    • Submit mileage reports daily.
    • Work a flexible schedule based on business and networking events.
  • Job Matching & Placement
    • Promote early employment and retention.
    • Work with Employment Specialists to match individuals to suitable job opportunities.
    • Conduct assessments to determine individuals’ skills, interests, and employment goals.
    • Provide employment preparation support along with ongoing evaluation and support for both individuals and employer partners.
    • Arrange interviews between individuals and potential employers.
    • Follow up with employers and individuals to monitor job placement success, address challenges, and remove barriers.
    • Maintain accurate records of job placements and follow-ups.
    • Prepare regular reports on job development activities and outcomes.
    • Create connections with businesses to develop internships for individuals to learn job readiness skills.
    • Coordinate with other agencies to encourage inclusive hiring practices.
  • Coordination & Professional Development
    • Coordinate activities with supervisors and OPWDD/employment services staff as applicable.
    • Actively interact with the Employment Team to provide coordinated employment services to individuals.
    • Attend all required meetings.
    • Participate in relevant agency meetings and/or training courses.
    • Actively pursue development of professional competencies through reading, supervision, in-service training, and attendance at conferences and workshops.
    • Support the Agency's Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategic Plan, including core competencies of being Collaborative and Community Focused, Innovative and Entrepreneurial, and Culturally Competent and Diverse.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

Requirements

  • Associate degree preferred.
  • Valid NY State Driver License and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Two years of experience in job development, marketing, or similar types of service; relevant combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments, plan, and complete work projects with minimal direction.
  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Office, and multiple online software platforms as required by funders and partner organizations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Demonstrated behaviors and attitudes that support organizational mission, philosophy, and policies.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and helpfully with all individuals.
  • Willingness and ability to foster agency-wide cooperation and teamwork through positive and constructive communication.
