Coordinator Surgical Tech

About the role

The Surgical Tech Coordinator provides leadership and oversight for the daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department. This position coordinates department workflow, ensures compliance with sterilization standards, supports staff development, maintains instrument inventory, and serves as a resource for Sterile Processing Technicians. The Coordinator also performs sterile processing duties and collaborates with Operating Room staff and physicians to ensure safe, efficient patient care.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department.
• Coordinate department workflow and ensure compliance with sterilization standards.
• Support staff development and serve as a resource for Sterile Processing Technicians.
• Maintain instrument inventory and manage supplies.
• Perform sterile processing duties as needed.
• Collaborate with Operating Room staff and physicians to ensure safe, efficient patient care.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) required or preferred based on facility requirements.
• Current BLS certification.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of Sterile Processing experience.
• Strong knowledge of sterilization, decontamination, and infection prevention practices.
• Thorough understanding of surgical instrumentation and equipment.

Qualifications

• Previous leadership, lead technician, preceptor, or coordinator experience preferred.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
