About the role

The Perioperative Service Line Coordinator oversees the coordination of care for patients undergoing the designated service line specialty. This position educates and trains team members, including nurses and surgical technologists, and assists in maintaining service line equipment, instruments, and supplies by collaborating with relevant leaders. The coordinator also serves as a value analysis liaison between surgeons and the materials management facilitator, engages in quality improvement initiatives, and may coordinate the daily surgical schedule (Charge Nurse) as needed. When designated service line volumes are low, the coordinator may be assigned to other procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate care for patients in the designated perioperative service line specialty.
  • Educate and train nurses and surgical technologists associated with the specialty.
  • Assist in maintaining service line equipment, instruments, and supplies.
  • Serve as a value analysis liaison between surgeons and the materials management facilitator.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives as directed by leadership.
  • Coordinate the daily surgical schedule (Charge Nurse) as assigned.
  • Perform other procedural assignments when designated service line volumes are low.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited school.
  • Licensed to practice nursing in the state of Florida.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • One (1) year of OR Nurse experience.
  • Effective July 1, 2018, all new hires or transfers must obtain/maintain Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification within three (3) years of hire or transfer. Existing employees must obtain CNOR certification by December 31, 2018.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
  • 3-5 years of operating room experience as a circulating nurse in the designated specialty.

  • Basic knowledge of data collection and research protocols.
  • Demonstrated leadership and collaborative skills.
