About the Role

The Perioperative Service Line Coordinator oversees the coordination of care for patients undergoing the designated service line specialty. This position educates and trains team members, including nurses and surgical technologists, and assists in maintaining service line equipment, instruments, and supplies by collaborating with relevant leaders. The role also functions as a value analysis liaison between surgeons and the materials management facilitator, engages in quality improvement initiatives, and coordinates the daily surgical schedule as needed (Charge Nurse). When designated service line volumes are low, the coordinator may be assigned to other procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate care for patients in the designated perioperative service line specialty.
  • Educate and train nurses and surgical technologists associated with the specialty.
  • Assist in maintaining service line equipment, instruments, and supplies.
  • Serve as a value analysis liaison between surgeons and the materials management facilitator.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives as directed by leadership.
  • Coordinate the daily surgical schedule (Charge Nurse) as assigned.
  • Perform other procedural assignments when designated service line volumes are low.

Qualifications

Education

  • Required: Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Preferred: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).

Skills

  • Perioperative nursing skills.
  • Basic knowledge of data collection and research protocols.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and collaborative skills.

Licensure/Certifications

  • Required:
    • Licensed to practice nursing in the state of Florida.
    • BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
    • All new hires or transfers must obtain/maintain Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification within three (3) years of hire or transfer. Existing employees must obtain CNOR certification by December 31, 2018.

Experience

  • Required: One (1) year of OR Nurse experience.
  • Preferred: 3-5 years of operating room experience as a circulating nurse in the designated specialty.
