About the role
Budget Analyst II, Coordinator of Business and Fiscal Services, CSU Classification
Salary Range: $5,178– $7,543 per month (Step 1- Step 20), Anticipated Hiring Range: $5,178- $5,717 per month (Step 1-6).
This is a full-time, benefited, exempt, 12-month pay plan regular position with a one-year probationary period in the Athletics Administration Department.

Responsibilities
- Oversee the development, administration, monitoring, and reconciliation of Athletics Department budgets, including state, IRA, trust, foundation, and special project funds.
- Perform financial analysis related to revenue projections, expenditures, position control, labor distribution, and cash flow management.
- Serve as primary liaison with the University Business Office (UBO) in preparation of budget reports, financial forecasts, variance analyses, and operational summaries for Athletics leadership.
- Facilitate operational support for all travel requests and reconciliation in Concur.
- Analyze budget trends and provide recommendations regarding fiscal planning, resource allocation, and cost containment strategies. Monitor budget performance and identify budgetary issues, discrepancies, and opportunities for operational improvement. Utilize financial systems and reporting tools to conduct detailed financial analysis and maintain fiscal accountability.
- Support annual budget development processes and year-end financial close activities including all EADA and NCAA AUP processes.
- General Administrative Functions
Requirements
- Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience.
- Experience working in NCAA Division I, II, or III athletics.
- Experience with university financial systems, budget management, or athletics operations.
- Knowledge of CSU policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Working knowledge of financial, budgetary, and accounting principles and practices.
- Working knowledge of the principles and practices of public finance, administrative, personnel fiscal management, and cash-flow management.
- Working knowledge of research techniques and statistical principles and procedures.
- Advanced proficiency in using financial system, word processing and spreadsheet software and applications.
- Strong analytical skills in order to evaluate and interpret data to develop sound conclusions and recommendations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively present information and ideas and advise managers, staff, and faculty regarding budgeting policies and procedures.
- Ability to define problem areas, collect data, perform preliminary analyses, make appropriate recommendations, and prepare clear and concise analytical comments.
- Ability to lead and train others.
Skills
- Principles and practices of budget administration, financial analysis, and fiscal management.
- Administrative and operational practices within higher education and/or athletics environments.
- NCAA, conference, and university operational regulations and procedures.
- Principles of public administration, organizational operations, and program management.
- Research methods, data analysis techniques, and reporting methodologies.
- Applicable software systems including financial reporting, spreadsheets, databases, and enterprise.
- Ability to analyze complex operational and financial information and develop sound recommendations.
- Ability to independently organize, prioritize, and coordinate multiple projects and deadlines.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Ability to prepare clear, concise, and effective reports and presentations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.

- Demonstrated ability to lead projects and coordinate operational activities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and financial management systems.
