About the Role
Coordinate, support, and implement the Latino Family Literacy Project and other programs for parents of English Learner (EL) students. Facilitate events and activities to enhance and increase parent engagement of EL students, including learning opportunities to improve English proficiency and technology skills. Develop and implement parent sessions for Parent Portal, Uniform Assistance Program, SBDM, and PTA/PTO. Collaborate on planning classes for EL students and parents to improve literacy and coordinate school outreach programs on topics supporting academic, social, and emotional growth.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and implement community events in targeted district networks.
- Develop and deliver parent sessions on district programs (e.g., Parent Portal, Uniform Assistance, SBDM, PTA/PTO).
- Collaborate on planning and development of literacy classes for EL students and parents.
- Coordinate school outreach programs to help parents support their children academically, socially, and emotionally.
- Organize training seminars and workshops for campus staff to build capacity in parent engagement for EL families.
- Improve communication between school personnel and non-English speaking parents.
- Maintain records of coordinated/facilitated events and activities related to Title III parental engagement.
- Coordinate leadership development for parents of EL students to encourage participation in school governance and advocacy.
- Use district data to collaborate on parental instructional plans supporting student achievement at elementary and secondary schools.
- Communicate effectively with principals, community/parent liaisons, and district staff regarding parent and community engagement.
- Collaborate with school leadership to facilitate parent communication campaigns and events promoting student achievement.
- Perform grant-related tasks and duties as needed.
- Work evenings and Saturdays as required for Bilingual ESL Department and district events.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in a related field (preferred).
- Three or more years of successful teaching experience with English language learners in Dual Language, ESL, or Newcomer Programs.
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Oracle.
- Strong written and oral communication skills with diverse communities and the public.
- Proven planning and organizational skills.
- Experience developing, implementing, and monitoring parent engagement programs.
- Competence in cross-cultural communication, training, and parent-school-community partnerships.
- Ability to work successfully with parents, district students, and employees at all levels.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
Pay
Minimum Salary: $56,988.00 | Median Salary: $69,500.00
Schedule
Full-time, with required evenings and Saturdays for department and district events.
