About the Role
Perform professional level administrative duties assisting with the daily operations of the Continuing Education’s Center for Adult and Family Literacy. This is a part-time, grant-funded position through the Consolidated Adult Education and Family Literacy Grant provided by Maryland’s Department of Labor.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Two years of experience coordinating a functional process in an education setting.
- Experience working in Adult Literacy ESOL preferred.
Responsibilities
- Implement ESOL Integrated English Language and Civics Education/Integrated Education and Training (IELCE/IET) workplace program’s managed enrollment process including recruitment, scheduling, and management of orientation, intake, and assessments for ESOL students.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate IELCE/IET classes in collaboration with workforce and technical training program areas.
- Prepare, analyze, and provide data and reports on miscellaneous subjects, as requested.
- Ensure security of all testing materials and distribution of course paperwork to program staff and partners.
- Assist in the process of recruiting, hiring, and training adjunct faculty and staff.
- Communicate with program staff and external partners regarding student referrals, course placement, progress, and employment needs.
- Work with program staff to design ESOL IELCE/IET workplace curriculum.
- Counsel and advise students regarding academic progress, assisting in the referral process of learners to support services and/or outside agencies when needed.
- Focus on retention, job development, and career guidance in program areas with assigned placement.
- Support internal partners when running ESOL Workforce programming, as needed.
