Job Summary
This position is responsible for using HACCP guidelines for safe food handling to plan, prepare and cook food according to recipe and production standards to support the hospital patients, medical staff, caregivers, volunteers, and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Accurately follow and prepare recipes.
- Prepare hot and cold food according to the recipe and following production and food styling guidelines taking into consideration customer/patient counts.
- Maintain proper food handling techniques.
- Properly clean and sanitize workstation according to safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Organize, calculate, and produce food production.
- Maintain appropriate records according to regulatory and departmental standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a cook in a hospital or full-service kitchen preferred, or a combination of experience and formal culinary training that provides the caregiver with the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job.
- Food Handlers Card – Oregon (required).
- Professional Culinary Institute Certificate (preferred).
- Knowledge and understanding of proper food handling and sanitation (required).
- Ability to work well with others (required).
- Proficient in MS Office applications (required).
- High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
Working Conditions
Lifting requirements vary by role within the department:
- Cooks: Continuous moving around the work area. Frequent lifting up to 22 lbs; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. Occasional carrying up to 20 lbs. Frequent reaching, bending, stooping, and grasping. Occasional squatting and kneeling. Frequent pushing/pulling with 14 lbs sustained force with frequent stop/start. Occasional repetitive push/pull such as scrubbing grill or oven.
- Diet Rep/Aide: Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Consistently operates a computer and other office equipment.
- Food Service Assistant: Continuous moving around the work area. Frequent lifting up to 12 lbs; occasional lifting up to 44 lbs. Occasional carrying up to 25 lbs. Frequent reaching, bending, stooping, and grasping. Occasional squatting and kneeling. Frequent pushing/pulling with 30 lbs sustained force with frequent stop/start.
- Stores Coordinator Assistant: Continuous moving around the work area. Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs; occasional lifting up to 35 lbs. Frequent reaching, bending, stooping, and grasping. Occasional squatting and kneeling.
Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment, work near or around ovens/heated surfaces, and work near or around water and liquid. Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, and hearing aids permitted). Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.

Pay
The salary range for this job opening is $22.64 – $35.34 per hour. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, and seniority. This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting.
