Contract Landman - CCS
About the role
Vault 44.01 (“Vault”) is a leading carbon capture & storage (“CCS”) developer focused on the development, capitalization, and operation of carbon storage assets throughout North America. Vault’s team brings over 90 years of direct carbon storage experience, with involvement in the development of carbon storage projects across North America since 2007. Vault’s capabilities span technical analysis, project design, permitting, stakeholder engagement, land leasing and acquisition, facility construction, and operations. In collaboration with our industrial partners, we are currently developing CCS projects in the US Midwest, US Southeast, and Canada, focusing on single CO2 source, near-site sequestration projects and including 7 projects currently under contract. Vault has secured a US$300 million equity capital commitment from Grey Rock Investment Partners (Dallas, TX based private equity company) and has offices in Denver, CO and Calgary, AB.
Summary
Start Date: July 2026
Job Location: Indiana or Ohio (must be locally based, Indianapolis/Columbus preferred)
Employee Type: Contract Employee, potential to move to FTE
Hours Required: 40 hours per week
Travel Required: 2 Weeks per Month
Compensation: Commensurate with experience
Opportunity: Reporting to the Land Manager, the Contract Landman will work closely with the Land Manager and Land Lead to execute functions related to pore space and right-of-way acquisition, review of title work product, and field landowner relationship management.
Responsibilities
- Execute pore space and right-of-way agreements with landowners under deal parameters established by senior land leads
- Work closely with the Land Manager and Land Lead on all aspects of land execution from landowner identification through pore space and right-of-way acquisition
- Engage with landowners face-to-face to foster and maintain strong long-term relationships
- Meet with key landowners regularly to advance acquisition efforts and support good community relations
- Review title commitments, runsheets, and abstracts to identify title encumbrances or defects and flag for cure in coordination with senior land leads and outside counsel
- Support project development teams at public open houses and landowner meetings
- Review, track, and coordinate execution of all documents necessary to secure property rights
- Support resolution of damage claims in coordination with senior land leads
- Track all communications within Land CRM (Monday.com) and provide timely updates to senior land leads and project managers
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
