Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops, prepares, and regularly updates detailed project schedules in collaboration with Project Managers, Superintendents, and project teams
- Participates in all phases of the construction planning and scheduling process including proposal schedules, baseline schedules, and ongoing schedule updates
- Works closely with Project Managers and Superintendents to ensure schedules reflect realistic construction sequencing, trade coordination, and field operations
- Performs schedule reviews to ensure best practices and effective scheduling methodologies are utilized and communicates recommendations to project teams
- Supports project teams in developing and maintaining short-term look-ahead schedules to assist with coordination of upcoming work activities
- Identifies schedule risks, constraints, and potential delays and collaborates with project teams to develop mitigation or recovery strategies
- Conducts critical path analysis and assists project teams in evaluating schedule impacts related to delays, scope changes, or unforeseen conditions
- Supports project teams with schedule analysis related to change orders, delays, impacts, and potential claims
- Assists project teams in delay prevention, schedule recovery planning, and root cause analysis when schedule issues arise
- Assists with development and training processes related to scheduling operations
- Visits job sites as necessary to review project status and ensure schedule updates accurately reflect field progress
- Attend project related meetings and/or jobsite-specific meetings where emphasis on schedule is discussed
- Prepares and distributes schedule updates, reports, and analyses for internal teams and project stakeholders
- Supports preconstruction efforts through development of proposal schedules and planning input
- Supports recruitment and evaluation of scheduling staff or consultant schedulers when necessary
- Maintains awareness of external factors that may impact project schedules such as weather patterns, material availability, labor markets, and regional considerations
- Integrate scheduling tools with project management or modeling software when appropriate
- Manages and coordinates in-person scheduling support across project teams when necessary
- Provides planning and scheduling support across multiple active projects simultaneously
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management and/or 8-10 years of construction management experience preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read and understand plans, drawings, and specifications
- Knowledge of schedule logic and sequence required
- Ability to lead internal scheduling training classes
- Broad knowledge of types of construction projects and delivery methods
- Proficient with MS Office Suite, MS Project or P6 (scheduling), Bluebeam, Procore or Sage (construction management), and PowerPoint or Prezi (presenting)
- Experience with BIM/Navisworks/Autodesk is preferred
- Efficient in time management, the ability to multi-task and adhere to/meet deadlines along with a strong attention to detail
- Must have a strong customer-oriented approach and demonstrate professional demeanor
- Current driver’s license and insurable driving record
