Construction Materials Testing Lab/Field Lead Technician
About the role
Kleinfelder's Houston, Texas office is seeking a Senior Laboratory Technician to join our Red River CoMET team. We provide construction inspection and material testing services to a broad range of local and national clients. We are looking for individuals who are interested in joining a dynamic team and building their career in the field of construction inspection and materials testing.
Responsibilities
- Performing testing on concrete, soil, and other construction materials in accordance with applicable standard test methods
- Reporting verification of conformance to approved plans and specifications
- Communicating effectively with clients, supervisors, technicians, and other design professionals
- Maintenance of Kleinfelder's local lab accreditations
- Perform field observations and testing on materials testing projects to verify conformance to the construction plans and specifications
- Submitting daily field reports and data reports summarizing daily activities
Requirements and Qualifications
- Minimum 3+ years of laboratory experience in CoMET or equivalent
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I
- ACI Concrete Strength Testing Technician
- ACI Aggregate Base Testing Technician
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and ability to pass drug test
- Ability to work independently and as a team member, maintain composure, and work effectively in a high-pressure environment with changing priorities
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to use a company provided laptop or iPad and a working knowledge of MS Office programs (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Authorization to work in the United States
- Bend and lift up to 50 pounds (22.68 kg) repetitively and over 50 pounds (22.68 kg) using handling equipment (hand truck, etc.)
Preferred Certifications
- Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT)
- National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET)
Education
High school diploma or equivalent with some college preferred.
