About the role
This position will be open to internal and external applicants and will close on Wednesday, July 15, 2026. The Construction & Maintenance Technician position pays between $44,331 to $55,414, and the Senior Construction & Maintenance Technician position pays between $50,181 to $62,727. Placement is based on skills, experience, and education of the successful candidate. This pay range is composed of a current base pay range of $43,040 to $53,800 and $48,720 to $60,900 with 3% supplemental pay, which is administered in accordance with NMGC’s Supplemental Pay Policy.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepare job sites for safe operation
- Frequent work around live gas mains and services performing taps, stop-offs, or tie-ins.
- Excavate site using manual tools, excavating machinery, and shoring following all safety procedures
- Installation and maintenance of steel pipe or non-steel systems Polyethylene (PE) plastic pipe utilizing heat fusion/electrofusion.
- Perform various safety tests, including pressure tests, on gas pipelines.
- Operate and perform preventative and corrective inspections on company vehicles and equipment.
Skill Requirements
- A high school diploma or GEDA
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Construction & Maintenance Tech: 0 years of experience and the ability to obtain and maintain a New Mexico Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within 1 year of hire through company-provided paid training
- Sr. Construction & Maintenance Tech: 3 years of experience, a CDL, and Journeyman Gas Fitter’s License (JGL) dependent on location
Working Conditions
- Construction and/or field environment
- May be required to work overtime and/or be on-call
- Will be exposed year-round to outside weather conditions
- Personal protective equipment required
- Regularly required to stand and walk with the ability to bend, twist, balance, and climb frequently
- Occasionally sit to drive vehicles and operate heavy equipment
- Manual dexterity is required to lift, carry and/or maneuver up to 80 pounds by reaching, handling, kneeling, and/or crouching.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is between $44,331 to $55,414 for the Construction & Maintenance Technician and between $50,181 to $62,727 for the Senior Construction & Maintenance Technician.
