Job Summary

Coordinates and oversees the architectural/engineering (A/E) design review process for capital and facilities projects to ensure compliance with project requirements, design standards, codes, and client guidelines. Manages design review schedules, document control, stakeholder coordination, and quality assurance/quality control reviews throughout project development and prior to contractor procurement. Supports process improvement, stakeholder training, A/E procurement activities, and maintenance of project review records and procedures.

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage the architectural/engineering (A/E) design review process, including verifying proposal compliance with project requirements, deliverable schedules, submittals, review durations, and applicable standards.
  • Maintain and track design deliverable schedules and review activities within the project management information system and shared review platforms.
  • Distribute design documents for review, coordinate reviewers and “page-turn” meetings, monitor review deadlines, and ensure all comments and responses are properly addressed, documented, and archived.
  • Perform quality assurance/quality control and constructability reviews of architectural drawings and specifications at various project milestones to identify gaps, inconsistencies, errors, omissions, and code or accessibility compliance issues, while ensuring adherence to client design guidelines and project requirements.
  • Conduct final design verification prior to contractor procurement to confirm incorporation and resolution of all review comments and requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, and provide training on standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to design review, document control, and project requirements processes for project personnel, A/E vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Assist with A/E team procurement activities, including RFQ evaluations and performance reviews, and oversee drawing maintenance, document control, and project record-keeping activities.

Qualifications

  • Fundamental knowledge of construction techniques, building materials, standards and equipment.
  • Architect/Engineer, Construction Management experience or Architect with Construction Administration experience preferred.
  • Minimum five years of design review experience in a higher education environment preferred.
  • Proficient in the operation of Microsoft Office, Adobe and Bluebeam products.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, coordinate multiple projects and deal with complex construction issues.

Job Specifications

  • Position may require walking long distances, standing or sitting for extended periods, lifting moderate weight, twisting, bending, reaching, and kneeling.
  • Must possess a valid Class “C” driver’s license.
