About the role
Being an Fiber Guardian Coordinator at PRG is a unique opportunity for the well-versed in outside plant telecommunications, bringing the best parts of the traditional job. Our Fiber Guardian Coordinators are well-versed in outside plant telecommunications. We oversee fiber both aerial and underground deployments. Our people have a passion for the telecommunications industry which gives them several options for career growth into roles such as Project Manager, Construction Manager, and more.
Responsibilities
- Receive your assignments
- Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Previous outdoor experience is a plus.
- Computer proficiency
- Valid driver's license and a safe driving record
- Able to walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Utilize utility locator equipment to verify underground utility paths within an excavation area.
- Able to read, understand, and reference locate tickets, as well as maps and prints.
- Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners.
- Report to the field to verify quality accuracy and adherence of work provided by our SOW.
- Visit every completed WO (Relo, rehabilitation, T2P, repairs, Forward Build etc.) within 48 hours of work completion to:
- Verify locate wire installed is intact
- Verify good tone on locate wire
- Locate entire segment/path related to job completion scope
- Verify and record depth
- Log and escalate any issues to GFiber FTE personnel
Requirements
- Knowledge in underground utilities experience is a plus.
- Educated on local area dig laws.
- Experience using locating equipment is a plus (Dynatel, RD, Rycom, Vivax, Etc.).
- Customer service acumen to interpret, communicate, and help deliver client needs.
- Impressive ability to organize and prioritize projects.
- Strong understanding of fiber engineering.
- Computer proficiency and Microsoft tools to create, manage, and present data and reporting to various stakeholders and management.
- Strong communication skills and ability to adjust delivery to your audience verbally and in writing.
- Willingness to use your vehicle in the field (mileage reimbursement at the standard federal rate).
- Must be able to walk extensively, sit, stand, and climb stairs throughout the day.
