The Role

Join our team as a Construction Coordinator, where you will help ensure ODOT’s highway construction projects in Region 1 are delivered safely, accurately and in full compliance with plans and standards by coordinating field work, reviewing contractor performance, and assisting critical project documentation.

You will play a direct role in keeping transportation infrastructure reliable for the Portland metro area and surrounding communities, an essential part of ODOT’s statewide mission to provide safe, efficient, and accessible transportation systems.

By upholding ODOT’s values of integrity, safety, equity, excellence, and unity, this role strengthens public trust and drives the movement of people and goods across one of the state’s most vital economic regions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Four years of experience in the field of engineering related to construction contract administration, construction inspection, surveying and/or permitting;
  • An associate degree in the field of engineering (civil or transportation-related) and two years of engineering technician experience;
  • A bachelor’s degree in the field of engineering (civil or transportation-related) and one year of engineering technician experience;
  • An equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

Special Qualifications

Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid US driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s).

Demonstrated ability to accurately interpret and analyze engineering plans, specifications, and technical documentation, and to apply mathematical concepts (such as geometry, algebra, and trigonometry) to solve construction-related problems.

Proven skill in producing clear written reports and conveying technical information verbally, with experience working collaboratively with contractors, internal staff, partner agencies, and members of the public.

Experience making timely, well-reasoned decisions in field settings related to safety, specification compliance, materials acceptance, and project scheduling, while following established standards and procedures.

Certain record of following safety policies and procedures, contributing to a safe work environment, and demonstrating professionalism aligned.
