The firm is seeking an Associate (4-7 years) or Director/Partner-level attorney (8+ years) with experience handling construction law matters, complex commercial litigation, or a combination of both.
Responsibilities
- Represent clients in construction-related litigation, arbitration, and mediation matters
- Manage all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, hearings, and trial preparation
- Handle construction defect, delay, disruption, breach of contract, payment, and professional liability disputes
- Draft, review, and negotiate construction contracts and related project documentation
- Advising clients on project risk management, dispute avoidance, and construction-related legal issues
- Manage mechanic's lien, bond, and payment claims
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships
- Collaborate with attorneys across multiple practice areas on complex matters
- Participate in business development and practice growth initiatives
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Licensed and in good standing in Illinois or eligible for admission
- 4-7 years of experience for Associate candidates and 8+ years for Director/Partner candidates
- Experience in construction law, commercial litigation, or other complex litigation matters
- Strong writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience handling construction litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution matters
- Familiarity with AIA contracts and construction project documentation
- Experience with mechanic's liens, construction defect claims, delay claims, and payment disputes
- Experience representing contractors, developers, owners, architects, or engineers
