Construction Attorney

The firm is seeking an Associate (4-7 years) or Director/Partner-level attorney (8+ years) with experience handling construction law matters, complex commercial litigation, or a combination of both.

Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in construction-related litigation, arbitration, and mediation matters
  • Manage all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, hearings, and trial preparation
  • Handle construction defect, delay, disruption, breach of contract, payment, and professional liability disputes
  • Draft, review, and negotiate construction contracts and related project documentation
  • Advising clients on project risk management, dispute avoidance, and construction-related legal issues
  • Manage mechanic's lien, bond, and payment claims
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships
  • Collaborate with attorneys across multiple practice areas on complex matters
  • Participate in business development and practice growth initiatives

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Licensed and in good standing in Illinois or eligible for admission
  • 4-7 years of experience for Associate candidates and 8+ years for Director/Partner candidates
  • Experience in construction law, commercial litigation, or other complex litigation matters
  • Strong writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience handling construction litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution matters
  • Familiarity with AIA contracts and construction project documentation
  • Experience with mechanic's liens, construction defect claims, delay claims, and payment disputes
  • Experience representing contractors, developers, owners, architects, or engineers
