Job Summary
Safely and expertly pours, levels and smooths concrete on a variety of surfaces including roads, sidewalks, and curbs. May also be required to set the forms that hold the concrete in place, patch existing surfaces, cut expansion joints, and monitor the curing of the concrete to ensure a high-quality finish.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sets forms that hold the concrete in place.
- Cleans and inspects surfaces for pouring issues.
- Directs the casting of the concrete with the truck driver.
- Pouring, smoothing, and leveling concrete using a rake, trowel, float, and screed. This includes handheld tools and power tool versions.
- Maintains a high level of discipline and professionalism as a representative of Libs Paving Co.
- Monitors the effects of the weather on the curing process.
- Applies sealing and hardening components.
- Safely operates power vibrator to ensure the concrete is compacted.
- Molds and constructs expansion joints using joiners and edging tools.
- Polishes surfaces using a power surfacing machine.
- Fulfills all direction from Libs Paving Management team as well as Superintendent, Foremen, Lead man or Equipment Operator.
- When driving company vehicles, follows proper daily checklist and inspection procedures while completing documentation of same as required.
- Takes necessary precautions to ensure job is being done in the safest manner possible. Is mindful of their personal safety as well as safety of coworkers and customers.
- Effectively communicates with other crew members with the ability to listen to other crew members’ ideas, suggestions, and concerns.
- Ensures site safety by installing barricades, as necessary.
- Adheres to all safety rules established in the Libs Paving Safety Program.
- Maintains a high level of discipline and professionalism as a representative of Libs Paving Co.
- Responsible for keeping truck interiors clean of debris while traveling to and from job sites.
Qualifications, Education And Physical Demands
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
- Must pass drug test and keep COATS card valid.
- Must be dependable with good to excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Minimum 2 years work experience as a concrete laborer or mason preferred.
- Able to regularly lift up to 75lbs.
- Able to withstand various climate conditions including extreme heat and humidity.
- Able to stand for extended periods.
- Able to kneel for extended periods.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
