About the role

The Utah Labor Commission Industrial Accidents Division is seeking a Compliance Specialist to join the Claims Compliance Team. This position is also open to fill vacancies within 6 months in the Policy Compliance Team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the public in complying with the requirements of the Workers’ Compensation Act, rules, and administrative guidelines, including issuing penalties.
  • Provide education-focused phone, email, written, and in-person customer service to the general public.
  • Resolve workers' compensation claim disputes.
  • Ensure workers' compensation laws are followed throughout the process.
  • Provide parties with information concerning rights, options, benefits, services, goals, and expectations.
  • Interpret, clarify, explain, and apply agency policy and procedures, business practices, federal and state laws, and regulations.
  • Gather documentation to support negotiated resolution of non-compliance issues.
  • Recommend penalties and corrective action for non-compliance with regulations.

Qualifications

  • Customer service experience, demonstrating strong verbal communication skills in responding to public inquiries clearly and professionally, via phone, in-person, or virtual platform.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce clear, concise, and professional written documents, including emails and letters, tailored to effectively convey information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience in a high-volume fast-paced customer service environment.
  • Experience learning, retaining, and applying laws, rules, policies, and/or procedures.
  • Experience explaining laws, rules, policies, and/or procedures to the public.
  • Experience with case management practices, including accurate well-written notes.
  • Deescalating individuals that do not agree with a law, policy or process.
  • Professional experience with workers’ compensation insurance.

Pay

Salary – $22.00 - 22.59 Hourly Wage
