Compliance Partner Enterprise Risk Management

About the role

Step into a pivotal role as an Enterprise Risk Management Partner at Corewell Health, where you will serve as a trusted advisor and key contributor to strengthening our organization’s risk-aware culture. In this hybrid position requiring an average of two onsite days per week, with flexibility based on operational needs, you will partner with leaders across the health system to identify, assess, and manage strategic, operational, financial, regulatory, and emerging risks that may impact organizational objectives.

You will help guide system-wide risk initiatives, facilitate meaningful discussions about risk exposure and mitigation, and support leaders in making informed decisions that advance Corewell Health’s mission and long-term success. As both consultant and collaborator, you will bring a proactive, enterprise-wide perspective to risk management. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships, influencing across diverse stakeholder groups, and translating complex risks into practical strategies.

Responsibilities

• Strategically advises on system-wide and client group specific initiatives that address strategic and operational goals.
• Provides strategic compliance guidance and support to leaders on issues related to compliance and regulatory requirements while ensuring a collaborative and engaged work environment.
• Acts as a valuable member of project teams to solve complex compliance challenges and offer operational leaders novel solutions and ideas.
• Drives business growth by advising on compliance and regulatory considerations for new business ventures.
• Supports operational teams by identifying risk mitigation techniques and/or activities to support project or program development.
• Provides exceptional customer service and facilitates effective communications to promote team member and leadership engagement with compliance.
• Collaborates with leaders in building a strong culture of accountability and with the Compliance team to ensure consistency in daily practice.
• Acts as a mentor, coach, and informal leader for Compliance Analysts, Liaisons, and Specialists.
• Leads or performs investigations and audits of compliance issues, directs and oversees resolution of compliance issues referred for investigation, and performs investigations at the direction of legal counsel following appropriate attorney-client privilege guidelines.
• Provides support to and/or facilitates operational and Board compliance committees.
• Works with operational leaders and Compliance COEs to develop and monitor internal controls, including corrective action in response to investigations and audits to detect and/or prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct.
• Applies knowledge of laws and regulations impacting health care delivery and/or coverage in daily situations while educating others through various means, including formal training.
• Performs or supports related assessments to assure compliance with laws, regulations, and policies/procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in business, health care operations, nursing, or other related area, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 7 years of progressive compliance experience and/or clinical or operational leadership experience.

Qualifications

Preferred:

• 3 years of Compliance experience.
• 3 years of experience leading system-wide and/or client group specific projects.
• 3 years of experience partnering with those in higher level leadership roles.
• 3 years of experience in strategic planning, financial planning, and operational business discussions.
• One of the following certifications within 1 year after hire:
  • Certified Healthcare Compliance (CHC) – HCCA Health Care Compliance Association.
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) – AAPC American Academy of Professional Coders.
  • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) – AHIMA American Health Information Management Association.
  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) – ACFE Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) – IIA Institute of Internal Auditors.
  • Certified Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC) – 1 Year preferred.
  • Certified IRB Professional (CIP).
  • Certified Healthcare Research Compliance (CHRC) – CCB Compliance Certification Board or HCCA Health Care Compliance Association.
