Community Support Specialist - Part-time Weekends

About the role

Community Support Specialists (CSS) provide mental health and substance use treatment support in a person’s community. Through care planning, you will be an integral part of a client’s growth and recovery, removing barriers to mental healthcare via case management: connecting clients with resources and helping them navigate complex systems. You will help clients strengthen daily living skills as you drive them to doctors’ appointments, benefits offices, or the grocery store. Each day will vary based on your client’s schedule, needs, and treatment plan.

Responsibilities

• Provide mental health and substance use treatment support in community settings
• Assist clients with care planning and recovery goals
• Remove barriers to mental healthcare through case management
• Connect clients with resources and help them navigate complex systems
• Strengthen clients’ daily living skills by transporting them to appointments, benefits offices, grocery stores, and other essential locations
• Adapt to clients’ schedules, needs, and treatment plans

Requirements

• Passion for mental health advocacy
• Effective communication and relationship-building skills
• Good writing skills
• Strong time management and organization
• At least 21 years old
• Valid driver’s license, current car insurance, and daily access to your own car
• Willingness to provide transportation to clients

Qualifications

Many education and experience paths are eligible for this role:

• High school diploma or GED certificate and 5 years of supervised clinical experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field
• Bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field and 2 years of supervised clinical experience
• Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field

Schedule

Saturdays and Sundays (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM)

Pay

Base Rate: $23.10 - $25.10 per hour / $48,048 - $52,200 annually (commensurate with education and experience)
