Position Summary
The Community Support Specialist supports adults served in Bright Beginnings by strengthening skills that promote recovery, independence, and community stability. This role exists to provide structured psychosocial rehabilitation supports while ensuring timely, accurate service delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Independent living skills instruction and vocational coaching
- Needs assessments and assigned case management
- Crisis intervention and client advocacy
- Planning and facilitating individual and group psychosocial development activities
- Leading group therapy and recreational groups
- Tracking progress and completing required documentation
Required Qualifications/skills
- Bachelor's degree in a human services field (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Counseling)
- Six months of related experience or completion of a behavioral health internship
- Ability to register with the Virginia Board of Counseling as a QMHP-Trainee within 90 days
- Valid Virginia Driver's License
- PREFERRED: American Sign Language (ASL)
