Community Support Specialist
Summary
Betty Jean Kerr Peoples Health Centers is seeking a Community Support Specialist (CSS) to join our team. The CSS will provide support to individuals at risk of hospitalization or recently discharged from inpatient treatment, helping them adjust to life in the community. Responsibilities include evaluating client status, developing person-centered plans, monitoring progress, teaching living and social skills, and transporting clients to appointments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and two years of qualifying experience specifically working with individuals with substance use disorders
- Four years of qualifying experience, including:
- Delivery of service to individuals with mental illness, substance abuse, or developmental disabilities
- Providing one-on-one or group services with a focus on coping and managing psychiatric, developmental, or substance abuse issues
- Encouraging the use of natural resources and supporting efforts to find and maintain employment
- Assisting individuals in achieving goals outlined in their individualized treatment or person-centered plans
- Valid Class E driver’s license, dependable transportation, and personal vehicle insurance
- Ability to obtain Class E Driver's License
- Maintain personal vehicle insurance
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree and relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience, with a focus on working with individuals with mental illness, substance abuse, or developmental disabilities. Experience should include direct service delivery, teaching and modeling coping strategies, supporting employment efforts, and assisting individuals in achieving their treatment goals.
