Community Resource Officer

About the role

This is a full-time Community Resource Officer position located in Gold Beach, Oregon. The role emphasizes community outreach, trust-building, problem-solving, and connecting vulnerable residents with appropriate services.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a dedicated outreach officer, prioritizing engagement, education, and problem-solving.
• Aid patrol deputies with situations involving unhoused individuals and help connect people with services.
• Build working relationships with community agencies, businesses, and service providers.
• Cooky sites, including notices and organized cleanups.
• Maintain accurate records of community contacts, outreach efforts, and problem-solving activities.
• Use crime data and community feedback to identify trends and develop proactive public-safety strategies.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen and at least 21 years old.
• A high school diploma or GED is required.
• A valid Oregon driver’s license is required.
• Must pass background checks, drug screenings, and psychological and physical evaluations.
• Must be able to obtain Oregon DPSST certification within one year of hire.
• Two years of experience in social work, human services, or a related field is preferred.
• Curry County may consider an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Environment

The position includes indoor and outdoor work in varied terrain and weather. It may involve physical hazards, emotional stress, biohazards, and regular interaction with people experiencing homelessness, mental illness, or substance-use disorders.
