Community Living Professional Manager
Kirksville, MO – Full-time position with Chariton Valley Association (CVA), a non-profit partner of Center for Human Services, empowering people with disabilities to achieve their highest level of independence through high-quality, diverse support services.
About the role
The Community Living Professional Manager supports the CHS mission as an active member of the Community Living management team, providing leadership, supervision, training, and coordination of activities at assigned locations to support Direct Support Professionals and the Individuals served. The Community Living department operates 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.
Responsibilities
- Schedule, train, and onboard new talent, including Individual Support Plan (ISP) training; provide constructive and timely feedback through performance evaluations and daily interactions; handle discipline and termination in accordance with company policy.
- Project a positive image of the Center for Human Services by interacting professionally with staff, external agencies, parents or guardians, and providers.
- Foster a culture of communication by attending and leading administrative meetings, informing the management team of developments or concerns, addressing issues through critical thinking and problem-solving, and participating in ISP or other team meetings.
- Maintain integrity of records by ensuring Medication Administration Records (MARs) are accurate, writing implementation strategies for ISPs, completing discharge summaries, performing quality enhancement monitoring, and reviewing and approving documentation.
- Support the financial health of Individuals by overseeing and assisting with personal funds, including tracking systems during service delivery.
- Support the health and welfare of Individuals by administering prescription and PRN medications as prescribed, collaborating with the Community Registered Nurse on medical needs, and ensuring annual or as-needed physical examinations are completed.
- Ensure sufficient workforce coverage by completing shifts to provide direct support when necessary, participating in a tiered on-call rotation (available 24/7 by phone, responding physically within 30 minutes in areas with remote supports or 1 hour where remote supports are not provided), and maintaining unimpaired cognitive clarity during on-call periods.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) from an accredited university, plus 3 years of managerial experience and/or experience working in the field of intellectual or developmental disabilities, or a combination of education and direct experience equal to seven years.
- Experience working with non-profit organizations preferred.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable and insured vehicle, and reliable form of communication.

Physical Requirements
- Lift, carry, squat, bend, move, push, or pull; sit or stand for long intermittent periods.
- Type on a keyboard and have sufficient vision to view computer screens for extended periods.
- Local and intrastate driving, with possible overnight stays.
- Ability and strength to position, lift, or transfer an adult (greater than 50 lbs.) from varied positions, including from standing to laying on the floor.
- Continuous ability to push and pull 100-125 lbs. of pressure over extended periods (e.g., administering CPR).
- Continuous ability to kneel on hard or other surfaces for extended periods (e.g., performing CPR).
Schedule
Full-time exempt position, 40 hours per week. This role requires participation in a tiered on-call rotation, including 24/7 phone availability and physical response within specified timeframes.
