Main Purpose of Job:
The main purpose of this position is to provide nursing case management, directly observed therapy and education to patients with suspected or confirmed active tuberculosis (TB) disease. This position provides targeted TB testing for persons with risk factors in the Department of Health’s three health centers, in designated clinics or in patient homes. For patients with positive results, this position obtains medical history and arranges additional evaluation and treatment. This position dispenses TB medications and maintains pharmacy inventory. This position documents test results and interactions with patients in an electronic medical record as well as a paper chart.
Minimum Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.
- Experience as a Registered Nurse.
Desired Or Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with case management of patients with active tuberculosis and latent tuberculosis infection.
- Experience assessing patients using the nursing process and critical thinking skills.
- Experience making home visits utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Experience with electronic medical records and data entry software.
- Fluency in Spanish, or another language, in addition to English.
