About the Role
Axis Residential is seeking a people-focused Community Director for our 62 and older, active adult community, Affinity at Puyallup. In this role, you will build strong rapport with residents, prospects, the Portfolio Manager, and the on-site team while overseeing the overall operations of the community and maintaining its maximum revenue potential.
Responsibilities
- Manage, lead, develop, and motivate a high-performing office team.
- Create and maintain a community culture focused on enhancing residents’ way of life while providing excellent customer service and a supportive home environment.
- Provide continual training and performance evaluation of associates.
- Support the community by participating in resident-led events and activities.
- Participate in sales programs and leasing activities while building strong rapport with current and prospective residents.
- Establish and maintain the best possible occupancy and revenue potential of the apartment community.
- Manage daily operations of the property to achieve financial goals and budgets.
- Ensure the physical well-being and curb appeal of the community, including daily property inspections and maintaining market-ready units.
- Monitor local market conditions and availability; identify areas of improvement and make strategic recommendations.
- Ensure thorough application and credit checks are completed for all prospective residents before approval for occupancy.
- Maintain current records of liability insurance.
- Exercise sound judgment regarding property expenditures and ensure timely and accurate submission of all invoices.
- Take a proactive approach with vacancies by achieving timely unit turnover in partnership with the maintenance supervisor and implementing a marketing program to pre-lease apartments.
- Ensure timely service and enforcement of evictions for non-payment of rent and violation of community rules and regulations.
- Assist the Portfolio Manager with tasks such as bid collection for annual budget preparation and financial variance reporting.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and Fair Housing Laws.
- Perform additional duties as needed to meet organizational needs.
Requirements
- A professional, relationship-focused individual who can effectively carry out daily community operations while leading a team and building rapport with residents.
- Experience developing and leading a high-performing team.
- Determined, ambitious, and self-motivated with a "we over me" approach to relationships.
- Prior multifamily property management experience strongly preferred.
- Understanding of financial statements, budgets, and invoicing.
- Excellent communication skills; proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in English.
- Strong computer skills, including MS Office, property management software (e.g., Yardi, On-Site), and CRM solutions.
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
- High School diploma or equivalency certificate.
- Valid driver’s license and insured, operable vehicle.

Pay
Competitive pay of $34-$35 per hour (based on experience), with a quarterly bonus incentive and annual performance review with potential merit increase.
Schedule
Willingness to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
