About the role

The Activity Coordinator plans, sets up, and oversees activities and events at the Community Center. They assist with operations, including facility, gym, events, and classes during assigned shifts, ensuring building, equipment, and machines are functional. The role involves inspecting the facility for safety hazards, cleanliness, and potential problems at the start and end of each shift. This is a hands-on position requiring regular attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform miscellaneous duties such as answering phones and assisting with event setup.
  • Follow administrative and program policies and procedures within assigned areas.
  • Assist with opening and closing the building for scheduled events and inspect for proper cleanup afterward.
  • Monitor staffing levels, observe employee performance, and coordinate rotations and breaks.
  • Manage call-outs or no-shows by arranging coverage as needed.
  • Represent the organization positively and maintain professional dress standards.
  • Meet attendance guidelines by reporting to work as scheduled consistently.
  • Perform other job-related tasks and special assignments as required by the supervisor.
  • Occasionally perform unrelated office or field duties to support community service and well-being.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • One (1) year of experience in coordinating group activities.
  • Valid First Aid/CPR Card or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Valid driver’s license and eligibility for the Tribe’s automobile insurance.

  • Supervisory techniques, including managing, scheduling, assigning, coordinating, and monitoring work.

  • Problem-solving, conflict resolution, and evaluating options to implement solutions.
  • Proficiency with computers and standard office equipment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of mathematics, English composition and grammar, teaching methods, government regulations, human behavior, learning and motivation, Native American culture and history, and drug/alcohol rehabilitation.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, a positive attitude, and a strong work ethic.
  • Culturally competent, non-judgmental, and supportive relationship-building with youth.
  • Data gathering, interpretation, and logical conclusion drawing.
  • Teamwork and independent judgment.

Working Conditions

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, balance, bend, crouch, kneel, twist, and use foot controls.
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 20 pounds.
  • Frequently sit, talk, hear, and use hands to grasp, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Specific vision abilities include close, distance, and peripheral vision, with the ability to adjust focus.
  • Moderately loud noise levels in the work environment.
  • Occasional outdoor work in various weather conditions.
  • Occasional administrative tasks performed while seated.
