Activities Center Coordinator

About the Role

Join our team at The Portofino Hotel, a unique property nestled in the private Redondo Beach peninsula. Our hotel offers a variety of amenities, including 168 rooms, multiple food and beverage outlets, banquet facilities, guest activities, and a 188-slip marina. This temporary position assists with the daily operation of the Activities center, including cashiering, watersports rentals, boat fueling, and guest service. You will arrange, execute, and supervise indoor and outdoor guest activities while ensuring privacy and safety.

Responsibilities

• Maintain complete knowledge of all items sold in the retail shop.
• Comply with all departmental policies, service procedures, and standards.
• Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests at any time of day.
• Familiarize yourself with hotel services and local attractions to respond accurately to guest inquiries.
• Resolve guest complaints to ensure satisfaction.
• Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.
• Set up and close the Activities Station.
• Assist guests with maps and directions.
• Stock, display, and loan/rent recreational equipment.
• Reserve sporting activities upon request.
• Coordinate tournaments and games.
• Distribute activities sheets.
• Conduct guest orientation.
• Check out with your supervisor.
• Pump fuel into boats.

Requirements

• Fluency in English (verbal and non-verbal) with legible communication skills.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
• Attention to detail, speed, and accuracy in performing job functions.
• Strong prioritization and organizational skills.
• Ability to remain calm and resolve problems using good judgment.
• Follow directions thoroughly and understand guest service needs.
• Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.
• Work with minimal supervision.
• Maintain confidentiality of guest information and hotel data.

Physical Abilities

• Exert physical effort in transporting 10 to 40 pounds.
• Endure various physical movements throughout work areas.
• Satisfactorily communicate with guests, management, and co-workers.
• Work under variable temperature conditions (including extreme heat or cold).
• Work under variable noise levels, both indoors and outdoors.
• Work around fumes, odors, dust, mites, and chemicals.
