Amazon is looking for a Communications Specialist to join our Selling Partner Services (SPS) Communications team, focused on trust and reputation management. This role requires strong judgment, media relations instincts, and prior experience managing complex narratives with press and external audiences.

About the role

This position will manage reactive media relations across the SPS business, covering customer partner trust, seller experience, and small business empowerment. The candidate will handle day-to-day reactive inbound press inquiries, strategically respond to media, and anticipate emerging issues or news cycles. The role involves diving deeply into complex business topics and communicating clearly with internal and external audiences, including senior executives. Strong writing skills and the ability to manage feedback from multiple stakeholders under tight deadlines are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, assess, escalate, and resolve multiple situations simultaneously with excellent judgment.
  • Dive deeply with internal teams to understand their businesses and formulate clear points of view on complex issues.
  • Create concise, well-written statements for press and external audiences.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key media outlets and reporters.
  • Manage incoming media inquiries, correct inaccuracies, and lay groundwork for future story development.
  • Engage with reporters to gather information, educate them on key topics, and push back on inaccuracies.
  • Serve as an Amazon spokesperson and manage external PR firms as needed.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of recent professional communications or public relations experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in fast-paced, ambiguous environments or communicating results to senior leadership.
  • Experience with fast-moving or negative media cycles.
  • Strong attention to detail, bias for action, and ability to understand nuanced business topics.
  • Strong judgment and real-time decision-making skills.

Pay

  • USA, NY, New York: $84,200.00 - $147,400.00 USD annually
  • USA, VA, Arlington: $76,600.00 - $134,000.00 USD annually
  • USA, WA, Seattle: $82,700.00 - $134,000.00 USD annually
