Communications & Control Worker IIIL
About the role
Individuals in this role perform a wide variety of tasks including, but not limited to, assisting with the testing, maintenance, and operation of protection and control equipment such as IEDs (Intelligent Electronic Devices), electromechanical and solid-state protective relaying, PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) equipment, Eversource NH telecommunication equipment (including fiber optics, two-way radio, and microwave), pole-top Distribution Automation equipment (NOVA, Viper, & Scadamate, reclosers), SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) communication systems, and switchboard devices.
Responsibilities
- Install, test, and repair protective relays, SCADA systems, and telecommunication equipment.
- Perform math functions, have a working knowledge of personal computers, interpret electrical/electronic drawings, and comprehend manufacturer technical instruction manuals.
- Follow instruction, have good communication skills (oral and written), and work under limited supervision (when required).
- Perform work associated with preventive and corrective maintenance on electronic circuits, operate test equipment, utilize hand /power tools, and work from elevated positions (ladders) or within confined spaces.
- Work throughout the Eversource territory and be prepared to work a reasonable amount of overtime when offered.
- Assist with storm assignments including damage assessment and service restoration.
Requirements
- An Associate’s degree in electrical technology, electrical power system technology, electrical control systems, telecommunication technology, electrical engineering, electronic engineering, or electronics.
- Individuals with a BSEE or BSET degree are encouraged to apply.
- Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
- SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE EEI TECHNICIAN’S APPTITUDE TEST IS REQUIRED.

This position is one step in a multi-step progression program. Starting Rate of Pay: $41.84 per hour.

Position requires travel throughout the Eversource territory.
