About the Role

This role involves operating communication systems, relaying critical information, and supporting hospital operations to ensure safety and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Operates ACD telephone system for multiple OhioHealth hospitals using Amtelco, a PC-based console program, and directs callers to the proper area, person, or department (50%).
- Initiates emergency pages and announcements via pocket paging and overhead public address systems (5%).
- Answers emergency Code Phone and contacts medical/support personnel for emergencies, including Code Blues, Traumas, Code Assists, Code Alerts, Code Adams, Utility Alerts, and Weather Alerts (20%).
- Answers patient hotlines for Riverside, Grant, Doctors, and Dublin hospitals, dispatches appropriate staff, and handles hospital complaints (20%).
- Maintains daily on-call schedules, updates information for on-call personnel, and calls in on-call staff as requested. Handles after-hours calls for clinical areas such as Hospice and Riverside Family Medicine (10%).
- Rotates on-call shifts for 24-hour night shifts on weekends approximately every 3-4 months (2%).
- Assists with special projects and other duties as requested (3%).
- Monitors security cameras at several OhioHealth facilities to enhance organizational safety (10%).
- Adheres to High Reliability Organization (HRO) standards, focusing on safety, quality, and efficiency in all job duties.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED (required).
- CPR certification (American Red Cross).
- Must obtain BLS certification with American Heart Association within 6 months of hire (dependent on home location).
- Six months to one year of experience in a high call-volume environment.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
Schedule
- Full-time, 40 scheduled weekly hours.
- Department: Protective Services - Operators.
- Rotating on-call shifts for 24-hour night shifts on weekends (approximately every 3-4 months).
