Commercial Trials & Litigation Associate
About the role
Steptoe LLP seeks an associate with 3–5 years of commercial litigation experience to join the Firm's Commercial Trials & Litigation practice group in our Houston office. The ideal candidate will have experience handling complex commercial disputes and be ready to assume significant responsibility in managing matters. This role offers meaningful opportunities to work directly with partners, clients, opposing counsel, and the courts.
Responsibilities
- Handle complex commercial disputes
- Assume significant responsibility in managing matters
- Take and defend depositions
- Draft dispositive motions
- Participate in court hearings
- Work directly with partners, clients, opposing counsel, and the courts
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of commercial litigation experience
- Substantive litigation experience, including taking and defending depositions, drafting dispositive motions, and court hearings
- Federal judicial clerkship experience strongly preferred
- Excellent academic credentials
- Superior writing and analytical skills
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to the Texas Bar in active good standing
Compensation and Benefits
The anticipated salary range is $260,000 to $365,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on the applicant’s experience and qualifications, as well as other job-related factors, including but not limited to relevant skills, education, certifications or other professional licenses held.
