About the role

Mutual Inspection Bureau, Inc. (MIB) is seeking experienced Commercial Lines & Personal Lines Insurance Underwriting Surveyors as independent contractors. The position involves conducting on-site inspections of residential, commercial, and agricultural properties to assess conditions, identify hazards, and gather data for insurance companies.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site inspections of residential, commercial, and agricultural properties
• Assess conditions and identify hazards that may lead to claims activity
• Gather data to assist insurance companies in establishing replacement cost values for buildings and dwellings
• Communicate effectively with community members
• Work independently and manage workload as needed

Requirements

• Self-motivated and able to work without direct supervision
• Basic knowledge of home construction materials and methods
• Previous inspection experience helpful but not required
• Access to a PC, internet, and digital camera

Qualifications

• Experience in insurance underwriting is preferred but not required
• Microsoft Word proficiency required
