About the role

A leading global law firm is seeking a mid-level Commercial Disputes Associate with 3–5 years of litigation experience to join its Portland office. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney looking to take significant ownership of sophisticated commercial disputes and manage matters from inception through resolution. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced litigators while receiving active mentoring, increasing levels of responsibility and greater direct client contact.

Responsibilities

  • Manage complex litigation matters from inception through resolution
  • Conduct sophisticated legal research and analysis
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs and other substantive litigation documents
  • Develop and implement case strategies alongside partners and other team members
  • Conduct depositions and witness interviews
  • Manage all aspects of discovery
  • Prepare and argue motions before state and federal courts
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding case developments and strategy
  • Negotiate settlements where appropriate
  • Assist with business development, client presentations and networking initiatives

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of litigation experience
  • Commercial litigation experience preferred
  • Strong experience drafting pleadings and managing discovery
  • Deposition and courtroom experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong legal analysis, strategic thinking and advocacy abilities
  • Ability to independently manage matters and competing deadlines
  • Experience with e-discovery and litigation support tools preferred
  • Strong academic credentials
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Admitted and in good standing with a state bar
  • California and/or Washington Bar admission is a plus

Compensation

Salary Range: $200,000 – $240,000 (DOE). Eligible attorneys may also receive bonuses.
