About the role
A leading global law firm is seeking a mid-level Commercial Disputes Associate with 3–5 years of experience to join its Newark office. This is an excellent opportunity to work on sophisticated commercial litigation, multidistrict litigation and class action matters in state and federal courts. The successful candidate will take meaningful responsibility across complex disputes, with opportunities for increasing client contact and active mentoring from experienced litigators.
Responsibilities
- Handle complex commercial litigation in state and federal courts
- Work on multidistrict litigation and class action matters
- Conduct sophisticated legal research and analysis independently
- Draft substantive pleadings, motions and briefs
- Organize and manage all aspects of discovery
- Manage complex e-discovery matters
- Assist with case development and litigation strategy
- Take increasing responsibility for sophisticated disputes
- Work directly with clients as experience develops
- Collaborate closely with partners and senior litigators
Requirements
- 3–5 years of relevant litigation experience
- Experience with general commercial litigation, multidistrict litigation and/or class actions
- Strong substantive drafting experience
- Experience independently conducting complex legal research
- Significant discovery and e-discovery experience
- Strong academic credentials
- Exceptional research and writing abilities
- Excellent communication skills
- Clerkship or journal experience preferred
- Self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Admitted to or eligible to sit for the New Jersey Bar
Compensation
Salary Range: $215,000 – $255,000 (DOE). Eligible attorneys may also receive bonuses.
