About The Role

The Commercial Team supports multiple teams across the group, including Sales, Legal, Program Delivery, Business & IT Operations, and Relationship & Vendor Management. This entry-level position supports the US Commercial Team and involves both domestic and global tasks. The Commercial Support Officer coordinates contract negotiations for new business alongside Legal, Delivery, and business SME teams. The role is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career professional with a legal, paralegal, or financial services background looking to develop a broad commercial and contracts skill set within a global financial services organization.

The role partners with colleagues across the business to ensure accurate representation in client contracts, covering Services, Implementation, IT (including BCP/Resilience and Information Security), Audit, Governance, and Operating Model.

Responsibilities

  • Contract Support & Coordination
    • Coordinate with business, legal, and delivery colleagues throughout the contracting lifecycle.
    • Maintain accurate and current contract information across internal systems and trackers.
    • Support Business Development and Relationship Managers on contract management and negotiation activities for new business.
    • Assist in strengthening contractual control of client agreements and raise awareness of SS&C's ongoing obligations.
  • Legal Document Management
    • Support the legal team with document production and version control, including bookmarking, template management, and merging multiple contract documents into a consolidated draft.
  • Client & Product Tools
    • Ensure all relevant detail is captured and maintained in the client management/product tool (GoCheck).
    • Use GoCheck to provide valuable information to colleagues and clients.
  • Commercial Governance & Reporting
    • Support the Commercial Review Team and governance process for pricing and reviewing SS&C services.
    • Deliver regular and meaningful reporting to internal stakeholders, including management updates and pipeline reporting.
    • Perform analytical support tasks, reviewing financial schedules, fee models, and commercial terms, and prepare clear summaries for senior colleagues.
  • Meeting & Stakeholder Support
    • Support Commercial Directors with meeting management, action tracking, and minute-taking.
    • Partner with the Sales function to help deliver new client opportunities.
  • Market & Product Awareness
    • Build and maintain a working knowledge of the market, competitors, prospects, and industry initiatives, along with SS&C's products, services, and technologies.
    • Identify market and product best practices to enhance the SS&C/client service model.
    • Recognize opportunities to promote additional SS&C products and services.
  • Carry out any other duties within the employee's skills and abilities as reasonably instructed.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a focus on clear, precise drafting.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), with strong Word document-handling skills (styles, track changes, comparing versions, merging documents).
  • Self-starter with the ability to take initiative, manage a varied workload, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and levels of seniority.
  • Customer-focused mindset and a professional approach to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn in a fast-moving commercial environment.

Qualifications

  • Prior paralegal, legal assistant, contracts, or commercial support experience, ideally in financial services, asset management, or a professional services firm.
  • Exposure to contract drafting, review, or negotiation support (e.g., NDAs, engagement letters, service agreements).
  • Experience reviewing or preparing financial documents (fee schedules, statements, budgets) and comfort working with numbers.
  • Familiarity with legal research tools (LexisNexis, Westlaw) or contract management platforms.
  • Notary Public commission in the State of New York, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Awareness of the US financial services regulatory environment.
  • Interest in fund administration, alternative investments, or fintech.
