About the role
SAFEbuilt is seeking a dedicated and experienced Building Official to oversee all aspects of building department services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction codes, zoning regulations, and building inspections.
Responsibilities
- Oversee plan review processes for residential and commercial projects
- Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with local building codes and zoning laws
- Issue permits and maintain records of approved plans and inspections
- Provide technical guidance to developers and contractors on building code requirements
- Respond to public inquiries and complaints related to building code violations
- Participate in community planning and zoning meetings
- Ensure compliance with state and federal building codes
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in building inspection or code enforcement
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes and regulations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Qualifications
- Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent organizational and time management skills

Pay
$80,000 - $90,000 annually
