Combination Building Inspector

About the role

SAFEbuilt is seeking a dedicated and experienced Building Official to oversee all aspects of building department services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction codes, zoning regulations, and building inspections.

Responsibilities

• Oversee plan review processes for residential and commercial projects
• Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with local building codes and zoning laws
• Issue permits and maintain records of approved plans and inspections
• Provide technical guidance to developers and contractors on building code requirements
• Respond to public inquiries and complaints related to building code violations
• Participate in community planning and zoning meetings
• Ensure compliance with state and federal building codes

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in building inspection or code enforcement
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes and regulations
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Qualifications

• Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent organizational and time management skills

Pay

$80,000 - $90,000 annually
