Collections Specialist - Credit Union

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated professional to manage member communications, resolve delinquent accounts, and minimize financial losses while maintaining high‑quality member service.

Responsibilities

• Loan loss prevention and recovery.
• Handling specialty collections such as bankruptcy, foreclosure, modifications, repossession, and credit disputes.
• Reviewing and updating credit bureau information.
• Managing mobile deposits, returned checks, and deposit fraud.
• Ensuring compliance with the Service Members Civil Relief Act.
• Accurately documenting collection activities.
• Completing required training and educational objectives.

Qualifications and Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent; formal training in credit‑union‑related areas preferred.
• Two to four years of collections experience or relevant training.
• Knowledge of federal and state collection laws.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Strong problem‑solving, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Ability to make informed decisions, ensure compliance, and provide excellent member service to support organizational goals.
