Coffee Shop Assistant - 16hrs/Day Shift

About the Role

The Coffee Shop Assistant supports the Coffee Shop Coordinator with food preparation, serving, volunteer oversight, and compliance with Board of Health requirements. This role ensures optimal service, cleanliness, and adherence to food safety standards to prevent foodborne illness and cross-contamination. This position is part of the 1199SEIU Bargaining Unit at Cooley Dickinson Hospital and reports to the Executive Chef.

Responsibilities

• Prepare a variety of food fillings following set menus, recipes, and quality standards.
• Collect and set up all supplies necessary for daily coffee shop operations.
• Accurately record temperatures of refrigerated equipment.
• Clean and maintain equipment and appliances.
• Greet customers promptly and courteously.
• Process payments for food and drinks from visitors and staff.
• Maintain cleanliness of counters, tables, and chairs; arrange and replenish items as needed.
• Perform daily cleaning duties as assigned.
• Follow proper hand-washing techniques and sanitation methods for kitchen equipment.
• Adhere to organizational and departmental policies, objectives, and safety standards.
• Meet annual competency and retraining requirements.
• Attend required meetings.
• Perform additional duties as requested.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Six (6) to twelve (12) months of food service experience preferred.
• ServSafe Food Handlers Certification preferred.
• Successful completion of Allergen Awareness training required within 90 days of hire.

Schedule

Every Saturday and Sunday, with shifts available from 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM or 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM.

Scheduled weekly hours: 16

Pay

Hourly pay range: $18.10 - $25.16

Base pay is determined by skills, relevant experience, education, certifications, and other factors. Additional compensation may include benefits, differentials, premiums, bonuses, and career advancement opportunities.

Work Location

Onsite at 30 Locust Street, Cooley Dickinson Hospital.
