About the role
The Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machinist III role produces precision machined components to engineering specifications. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring our custom-made parts are ready for the production floor at the highest quality, while maintaining the safety and quality standards upheld by company procedures and guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Perform all work in a safe manner that is compliant with Vitesse System safety policies.
- Follow all quality procedures, work instructions, and documents pertaining to your job and department.
- Log in to job operation promptly after assignment and log out upon completion including quantity completed.
- Verify that all company and personal inspection equipment and tools being used are in calibration.
- Responsible for keeping the machine and the immediate area clean.
- Clean the chips from machine at the end of your shift, or when the job is finished.
- Verify that material and paperwork for the job being performed is correct.
- Follow machine warm-up and cool-down protocols at beginning of the day and between jobs.
- Verify that there are no chips on either the jaws/fixture or on the part/material to be machined.
- Load the part/material, verify that the part is properly seated in the fixture/jaws, snug against any spotters prior to clamping or tightening of the jaws.
- Unload parts from the machine, deburr and remove FOD.
- Inspect all finished products for precision and accuracy to part drawing & workmanship specifications to ensure product quality and uphold company reputation.
- Identify non-conformance, if discovered, notify your supervisor so that it can be documented identified, dispositioned, and segregated from the remainder of the lot.
- Identify discrepant material left in your work area, notify your supervisor so that it can be dispositioned and segregated prior to the next job.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance tasks to ensure machine longevity, including lubrication, cleaning, and tool replacement.
- Total quantity count must be written on the route sheet along with MDR numbers, Team Member number, and the date.
- Notify supervisor immediately of any problems or safety concerns preferably before or any point during an operation or work activity.
- Set part fixture in machine, tram and zero out datum according to program and/or setup sheet.
- Select tooling from program and/or setup sheets and set heights of cutting tools.
- Load tools into machine per program sequence and set offsets.
- Walk part through program checking features as the program runs and make appropriate adjustments to bring the part in specification sufficient to submit first piece.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Perform all functions of the job while adhering to established quality policies and procedures.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Minimum of 5 years progressive experience CNC type machine setup & operation & diagnostics.
- 5-7-year related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in an AS9100 environment preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Must be able to read and understand drawings, blueprints and specifications.
- Must be able to inspect the parts they are machining.
- Ability to measure with vernier caliper, micrometers and height gauges.
- Must be able to follow instructions and procedures and work with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication, both written and oral, and problem-solving skills.
- Must be adaptable to a changing work environment and competing demands.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
