CNC Machinist I (ATDM)

About the role

BAE Systems is seeking a CNC Machinist I to join our team in Louisville, KY. This position is weekday - 1st Shift / M-T - 4/10 Schedule. There is a sign-on bonus of $5,000 available for this position.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate a wide range of machine tools including Planer Mill, Radial Drill, Engine Lathe, VTL, HBM, Jig Bore, Vertical and Horizontal Hone, ID Grinder, OD Grinder, Surface Grinder, Centerless Grinder, conventional Mill/Lathe, and CNC/NC Mill/Lathe.
• Make complex setups and precise alignment of work pieces in the machine and manufacture to extremely close tolerances as required in the manufacture of a large variety of precision parts made from various materials and configurations—bar stock, weldment, forging, and casting.
• Frequently perform repair type operations, which require the restoration of overhaul parts.
• Work under the supervision of a Team Leader who gives minimal instructions.
• Maintain/improve housekeeping standards in his/her work area and adhere to established safety rules and practices.
• Understand and independently execute assigned responsibilities such as clocking in and out upon arrival and departure from work, close shop order sequences when work is complete, etc.

Requirements

• Graduate or current student of the Advanced Training in Defense Manufacturing program.
• Knowledge and skill to set, use, and read precision layout and measuring instruments.
• Knowledge of, and ability to apply, algebraic, geometric, and trigonometric functions to blueprint dimensions in the machining of complex parts.
• Ability to read and interpret multi-paged complex machining blueprints.
• Knowledge, skill, and ability to setup and operate major machine tools.
• Ability, confidence, and self-motivation to apply talents independently and with good judgment.

Pay

This position is covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), which will determine your wages. Pay Information: $33.75 per hour
