Key Accountabilities
- Proficient in the setup, use and basic maintenance of CNC Lathe or CNC Vertical Mill inclusive of 5, 4 and 3 axis milling machines.
- This includes interacting with all aspects of a machine’s controls and operating software as well as comprehension of tool touch off procedure with understanding of tool compensation and wear offsets to deliver product within specification.
- Responsible for the changeover of product with basic set up including work holding fixtures, stops, datum offsets and indicators.
- Maintains regular cleaning of work area, machine tooling and parts; ensures coolant and machine lubrication fluid systems are maintained.
- Receives work orders and verifies components are correct.
- Meets or exceeds production quotas.
- Determines and implements cutting tool offsets, uses MDI and assists with editing programs; evaluates and acts upon machine alarms and error messages.
- Troubleshoots and repairs equipment when not operating properly.
- Determines and implements alternative tooling approaches when needed.
- Identifies root causes of problems and resolves without supervision.
- Streamlines machining processes.
- Trains CNC Machine Operators on machinery, including training and mentoring.
- Proposes continuous improvement opportunities for all processes.
- Documents and submits necessary revisions to Work Order Routings, Work Instructions and Quality Inspection documentation.
- Operates various secondary and special purpose machines including drill presses and trademarking fixtures and mechanical presses along with performing deburring product and chip cleaning operations.
- Collaborates with management to identify manufacturing issues and assists with cross training efforts, when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Setup operation and basic maintenance of CNC and manual milling and/or turning machines.
- Good communication skills in English, including reading, writing and comprehension.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work instructions.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
- Exceptional teamwork abilities.
- Ability to drive others to exceed goals.
- Basic skills in MS Office Suite.
- Ability to work overtime, as scheduled.
- College Level manufacturing certification.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of machining experience on CNC equipment.
- Related degree or equivalent combination of both.
