Facility: GSS MN Brainerd Bethany • Location: Brainerd, MN • Full-time, 32 hours per week (evening shifts 2:00 PM–10:30 PM, every other weekend and holiday)
About the role
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) serves as caregiver to residents during the scheduled work period in long-term care (LTC). Provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). Delivers age-appropriate care related to physical and psychological needs as per the care plan. Follows infection prevention and control policies and uses Personal Protective Equipment. Accountable as a member of the nursing team.
Responsibilities
- Assist with basic health care needs and daily living activities: bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, obtaining and recording vital signs, and providing psychosocial support.
- Help residents with transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct techniques and equipment; provide range-of-motion and passive exercises.
- Prepare and serve meals and snacks, provide water and supplements, and create a positive dining experience.
- Aid providers and nursing staff with procedures as needed.
- Document resident interactions, care outcomes, behavior, activity, and dietary information.
- Communicate resident’s changing condition and care concerns to the charge nurse.
- Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens and gather vital signs.
- Provide housekeeping and laundry services to keep living areas clean and operational.
- Assist with and document wellness and recreational programs; encourage resident participation.
- May participate in departmental or organizational committees and task forces.
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED preferred; not required.
- Minimum age of 16.
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing required; certification can be obtained within four months of hire by enrolling in a training program or through endorsement (facility provides training and certification).
- Complete yearly department-specific competency testing and maintain continuing education credits (minimum 12 hours annually).
- Maintain all required department-specific certifications.
- When applicable, register with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry for the state.
- If required by role, qualify as a Sanford Category II Driver: valid driver’s license, motor vehicle report, and medical qualification per Sanford Driving Policy.
Pay
Salary range: $20.00 – $25.50 per hour. $5,000 sign-on bonus available. Additional incentives: $1.25/hour for weekend shifts and $1.25/hour for hours worked between 6:00 PM–6:00 AM.
Schedule
- Full-time, 32 hours per week.
- Evening shifts: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM.
- Every other weekend and holiday required.
