CNA, Certified Nursing Assistant - FT Evenings

Facility: GSS NE Bloomfield • Location: Bloomfield, NE • Shift: 8-hour evening shifts • Full-time, 40 hours/week

About the role

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) serves as caregiver to residents during the scheduled work period in long-term care (LTC). Provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). Delivers age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of the resident as per the care plan. A member of the nursing team, accountable for following infection prevention and control policies and Personal Protective Equipment use.

Responsibilities

• Assist with basic health care needs including daily living activities: bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, obtaining and recording vital signs, and providing psychosocial support and personal care.
• Help residents with transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct transfer techniques and equipment; provide range-of-motion and passive exercises.
• Complete tasks related to food preparation and dining, creating a positive dining experience; assist residents with meals and snacks, provide water and supplements as appropriate.
• Aid providers and nursing staff with procedures as needed.
• Document resident interactions and outcomes related to care, behavior, activity, and dietary.
• Communicate resident’s changing condition and care-related concerns/responses to the charge nurse.
• Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens and gather vital signs.
• Provide housekeeping and laundry services to assist residents in keeping living areas clean and operational.
• Assist with and document wellness and recreational programs; encourage resident participation.
• May participate in departmental/organization committees and task forces.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required.
• Minimum age of 16.
• Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
• Required Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state-certified CNA within four months of hire by enrolling in a training program or obtaining certification through Endorsement.
• CNA training and certification provided by the facility.
• Satisfactorily complete yearly department-specific competency testing and maintain continuing education credits (minimum 12 hours annually).
• Maintain all department-specific required certifications.
• When applicable, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry for applicable states.
• If required by role and facility, may classify as a Sanford Category II Driver, requiring a motor vehicle report and valid driver’s license; must be medically qualified to perform essential driving functions per Sanford Driving Policy.
