About the role

CMM programmers program and operate coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to perform inspections on machined aerospace parts. This role involves documenting specific information regarding approvals and non-conforming parts, collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve issues, and participating in the development and maintenance of the quality system.

Responsibilities

  • Programs and operates a CMM(s) to maximize effectiveness and efficiency
  • Investigates and collaborates with cross-functional team members to resolve manufacturing-related non-conformances or other concerns
  • Initiates nonconformance records and disposition of parts not meeting requirements
  • Completes First Article Inspections to AS9102 and company/contractual requirements
  • Strives to improve inspection effectiveness and efficiency by recommending and supporting the implementation of process improvements
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with internal and external personnel to identify root causes, troubleshoot and address errors and trends, and negotiate the resolution of non-conforming parts and necessary rework or reinspection
  • Performs other inspections using precision measurement instruments such as mics, calipers, and gauges
  • Completes other duties as required

Requirements

  • Five to ten years of technical machining, programming, or similar experience, of which at least two to three years should be in quality assurance
  • Aerospace industry experience highly preferred
  • Three years of CMM programming experience in PC-DMIS

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of customer and industry standards and quality system requirements including AS9100, FAA requirements
  • Knowledge of problem-solving techniques, (i.e. Statistical Quality Control/Statistical Process-Control, etc.)
  • Experience in conducting Lean Manufacturing exercises and Six Sigma projects
  • Demonstrated accuracy in reading and interpreting blueprints, planning and engineering documents, quality standards, customer specifications, and other technical design standards
  • Advanced mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, and divide using fractions and decimal equivalents)
  • Experience accurately reading precision measuring instrumentation including mics, calipers, height gauges, tape measures, and other similar devices
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing (English)
  • Basic skills using Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, Word; ERP experience is advantageous

  • Knowledge of problem-solving techniques, (i.e. Statistical Quality Control/Statistical Process-Control, etc.)
  • Experience in conducting Lean Manufacturing exercises and Six Sigma projects
