Clinical Staff Pharmacist

About the role
We are seeking a Pharmacist to ensure high-quality, efficient care for all patients. As the Clinical Specialist, your primary responsibilities will include medication therapy management, daily multidisciplinary rounds for the inpatient specialty service line, and serving as the clinical pharmacy liaison for inpatient solid tumor chemotherapy orders.
Responsibilities
- Design and write chemotherapy and supportive care (e.g., antiemetic, pain) regimens
- Provide patient education on chemotherapy and supportive care regimens
- Deliver clinical services and drug information to patients, physicians, nurses, and other pharmacists
- Complete pharmacy consults, clinical interventions, stewardship of medication utilization, and integrated operational support
- Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to support departmental leadership
- Assist in the training, education, and professional development of pharmacists, residents, students, technicians, nurses, and medical staff
- Serve as a preceptor for PGY1 and PGY2 residents, participate in resident projects, medication use evaluations, and teaching opportunities (e.g., topic discussions, journal clubs)
- Serve as the primary preceptor for PGY2 oncology residents
- Develop safe, cost-effective drug therapy protocols and policies
- Assist in medication formulary management and compliance
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- PGY-2 Oncology residency preferred and/or 4 years of equivalent experience
- Active Tennessee pharmacist license in good standing or ability to obtain license within a reasonable time
- Certification in a related specialty within 2 years (if not already certified)
- BLS and ACLS certification within 1 year
- Strong interpersonal skills and empathetic communication abilities to interact with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals
